in Mt. Shasta is a total gem! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and the rich aroma of authentic home-cooked food. The staff treated me like family — attentive, kind, and genuinely proud of what they serve. The food? Incredible! Every dish tasted fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The salsa was vibrant and full of life, the tacos were packed with flavor, and the enchiladas melted in my mouth. You can tell everything is made with love and real ingredients. The atmosphere was cozy and colorful — the kind of place that makes you want to linger, laugh, and enjoy another round of chips and guacamole. Portions were generous, prices fair, and the quality unmatched anywhere nearby. If you’re ever in Mt. Shasta, do yourself a favor and stop here. It’s the kind of meal that fills not just your stomach, but your heart.
This is a really good place to eat, we were told by the desk at Best Western thought it was an OK place but that was a personal opinion not by the hotel. We looked at the reviews looked at the pictures and thought we would try it and we were glad we did. Irma the bartender and waitress was awesome with us, she didn’t say much until we started asking her questions then she was a sweetheart and an awesome waitress. The food portions are generous the taste of the food was really good, the salsa and chips were very good. We did not want a sweet margarita so she had made a margarita out of oranges lemons limes and tequila and it was one of the best margaritas we have ever had thanks to Irma. We did not expect to have that great of a meal so we were surprised we couldn’t even finish the food. I would highly recommend this place to try
Burrito Ranchero with steak is what I ordered, and I was very impressed with the quality. You get plenty of food, to the point where it’s very difficult to finish but you don’t want to stop eating! Staff was very friendly and our table was well attended throughout our time. Best Mexican in Mt Shasta!
Food was great, staff was friendly, portion sizes were insanely great. 10/10 would recommend!
Today's service was incredible xochitl was our server and we have to say this was some of the best service we've had here yet! Her attitude was perfect and she was so happy and respectful But also quick! We love her!
The place was clean and inviting! The staff was welcoming and polite. Food presented was good looking and the food was just as good! Authentic plate and taste. My son said it was the best Mexican food he had! We had burritos and tacos. Fresh food served hot! Great place and a welcomed one for the area and our travels!
I have visited the restaurant many times. The food is always fine, the service exceptional, and the place is clean. The staff go the extra mile, they are very friendly, and you will feel welcome. They have a nice selection of Mexican beer, the margaritas come in many styles, and even the house wine is fine. The menu is huge, and they will happily accommodate any reasonable request or substitution. I love the carnitas!
Brilliant Mexican food! The portions are humongous and the quality is terrific. Service is good but the food preparation time is slightly longer than expected but the palatable food more than makes up for it. Pricing is perfect and affordable!
Amazing Mexican food in a simple venue. Food is awesome and seems like great value. Ate here twice on my trip to the area.
When you walk in the restaurant it smells amazing! We sat down and got chips and to our surprise we also got bean dip. Which we thought was unique and a great surprise. The food was amazing we liked it a lot. We did get the shredded beef tacos but I felt that the meat made the taco shells soggy and wet. Maybe try a different type of me or ask the waitress next time to drain the meat before they put it in the shell
We had a great experience. The people were very nice, the food was good and came out fast. Price was normal. And they gave us a special little desert at the end!
Got the expresso burrito x2 with the a Tony special and a Santiago special. Nice quiet restaurant with great food. Worth the bill. Goretti was a fantastic waitress. Very bubbly personality. It’s was good enough to where I couldn’t stop eating and now I’m hurting. We had a fun time.
Let me paint you a full picture of my experience at Puerto Vallarta Family Mexican Restaurant in Mount Shasta because there’s so much more to love than just the Chile Rellenos (though those are insane). First, the chips and salsa set the tone. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill, out-of-a-bag chips—they come out warm, fresh, and crispy, paired with salsa that’s bright and flavorful, with just the right amount of heat to wake up your taste buds. It’s the kind of salsa you can’t stop dipping into. Next, I have to shout out their fajitas. Sizzling as they’re brought to the table, they’re loaded with perfectly seasoned steak, chicken, or shrimp, and plenty of grilled onions and peppers. The aroma alone had everyone at the table sneaking glances. And when I finally dug in, the flavors didn’t disappoint—juicy, tender, with a smoky char that hits just right. Of course, I’ve already raved about the Chile Rellenos, but I’d be doing you a disservice if I didn’t mention their enchiladas. I had the mole enchiladas, and that sauce was something else—rich, slightly sweet, and packed with complex spices that only get better with every bite. Paired with their refried beans and Mexican rice, it’s a satisfying, stick-to-your-ribs kind of meal. And the drinks! Their margaritas are huge and taste like they’re actually made with fresh lime juice. Whether you like them frozen or on the rocks, they’ve got you covered. They don’t hold back on the tequila either, which I appreciate. Overall, Puerto Vallarta is a hidden gem in Mount Shasta. From the killer food to the friendly service, it’s a spot that delivers. You can come in starving and leave full, satisfied, and planning your next visit. Whether you’re craving those amazing Chile Rellenos or feel like mixing it up with their fajitas or enchiladas, you’re in for a treat.
This place is great to eat with your family, I love how traditional the restaurant looks. The food was great and came out fast, the waiter memorized our order, and there were no mistakes when our food came to us. The food is affordable and amazing! The waiter also gave us a free dessert at the end of our meal (in the photo).
